Smart homes, made simple
Wiotek brings together WiFi connected devices for the home, from lights and switches to cameras, sensors and energy meters. Control everything from your phone or with your voice, and set up routines that look after the little things for you.
What is a smart home?
A smart home is simply a home where everyday devices are connected to the internet and to each other. Instead of getting up to flick a switch, you can turn lights on from your phone, get an alert when a door opens, or have your curtains open when the sun comes up.
The devices work together, so one thing can trigger another: a motion sensor can switch on a light, or a water sensor can send a warning to your phone before a small leak becomes a big problem.
How WiFi connected devices work
Setting up is usually three simple steps.
Connect to WiFi
Most of our devices join your home WiFi directly, so there is usually no hub or extra box to buy. Many use the 2.4GHz band, so check your signal where you plan to fit them.
Add it to the app
Pair each device in an app such as Smart Life or Tuya, then give it a name and a room so it is easy to find.
Control it your way
Use the app from anywhere, set schedules and scenes, or link Alexa or Google Home for voice control where the product supports it.
Always check each product page for the exact apps and voice assistants it works with.
What you can do with it
Lighting
Smart bulbs, spotlights, LED strips and floodlights you can dim, colour and schedule.
Switches & sockets
Turn lamps, heaters and appliances on and off, and keep an eye on what they use.
Security & safety
Cameras, doorbells, door and motion sensors, plus smoke, gas and water leak alarms.
Energy & power
Power meters and breakers that show where your electricity goes.
Heating & climate
Radiator valves, thermostats and air quality monitors for a comfortable home.
Blinds & curtains
Motors that open and close them on a schedule or by voice.
Getting started
- Start small: pick one room and one or two devices, get comfortable with the app, then build from there.
- Check that your WiFi reaches the spot you want to use.
- Read the product page for requirements. For example, some wall switches need a neutral wire.
- Mains-wired devices such as in-wall switches and breakers should be fitted by a qualified electrician if you are not sure.
